I thought that a joke was supposed to be funny. If you have to explain it...
I agree with most of the comments on the "BagNewsNotes". If we see a cartoon with McCaine and Cindy rolling in money and he is calling Hillary a bitch, maybe it would be fair and equal news/humor.

One of the commentaries suggested that a t.v. be added, with Michelle and Barak and their two adorable daughters, sitting in the "all american apple pie home", watching this drawing on the news. Now THAT"S funny...

a joke?

The original drawing may have been funny had the Obamas been properly dressed while doing the knuckle bump. I think the knuckle bump is cool! But, I love the commentary Sheryl passed on!

How about a drawing of Cindy running her fingers thru John's hair while he calls her a "c....."? That's real life.

Keep on hoping!

The cover didn't work

My problem with the cover is that it doesn't exaggerate or offer any commentary on the smears against Obama. It's just a collection of them. I guess we're supposed to see all those smears in one place and say "wow, how ridiculous." But the right-wing radio dittoheads would see that cover and say "yup, that's Obama." Which is the point made by the Tom Toles cartoon, which I thought was the most effective of the three. Horsey is a fantastic cartoonist, but with his cartoon you still have to work to "get" some of the commentary -- namely, that right-wing mags like National Review would never, ever help propagate negative storylines about their candidate (McCain as old and senile, his wife as a pill-popping addict, etc.).
