D4U Endorses Obama

Democracy for Utah, a local grassroots group affiliated with Democracy for America, is endorsing Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election.

We've been following the caucuses and primaries, from Iowa to South Carolina, listening to the debates and carefully considering what each candidate brings to the Democratic ticket. Based on our observations, and in keeping with the principles of Democracy for Utah, the D4U Steering Committee unanimously supports Senator Obama.

While we recognize that many people in the Democratic Party look back fondly on the '90s and recall the Clinton administration as "better times," we firmly believe that our country is different now.

We face different challenges and we need a candidate with a fresh perspective and the vision to heal our country so that we can move forward to address the foreign policy, economic, and social welfare issues we face.

We think the best candidate to handle this challenging time in our nation's history is Barack Obama.
